making a simple change to your creative space
Do you love walking into your workspace?
Be it a studio, home office or shed at the bottom of the garden, does it suffuse you with optimism and hope for the day ahead?
Okay, I realise I sound as if I am going all Marie Kondo on you here, which is definitely not my way.
If you have a milk carton and ice-cream stick pencil holder on your desk, lovingly fashioned by your darling four-year-old year son, I am not asking you to move or, heaven forbid, bin it.
I do think a workspace best works though when it is as simple as it can be.
You know these are staged, right?
Maybe you are thinking; I must have a clear white space like all those online gurus.
You certainly can, if that is what you crave. But this is not about how other people organise their stuff. Simplifying is all about being able to find what you want when you want it.
It’s about looking at it through your inner spirit's gaze to discern what nourishes you —and holding onto that.
Then looking again with an outsider's eyes to see what might be redundant.
And letting go of that.
A workspace that supports your special gift has these things.
Images that symbolise where you are heading to and hoping for.
Celebrations what you have already achieved hanging before you on the wall.
A tad of feng shui magic to give you much-needed security when creating your next big thing.
Here's one thing you can do right now.
Look around.
What is there in the space that might be blocking or hindering you in some way?
It could be things like- having bills in a prominent position. Or a box of filing that needs to be done.
It could be out of date notes or dust on the bookshelf. (I'm looking around my own space this moment, can you tell? )
Next question. Have you got three minutes to move, restock, dust or write a reminder to yourself?
Course you have.
Do that!
I’d love to hear how you simplify your space. Share it here.
